Pure Light Sun Deity, Ra

Evaluation

Pure Light Sun Deity Ra is almost a completely different leader from his 5-color predecessors, No Sun Deity Ra and No Dark Sun Deity, Ra. While they have their places, especially in No-RCV dungeons, L/L Ra (or "Super Ra") is both powerful and rock-solid reliable.

It may not be immediately obvious how potent L/L Ra is; at first blush, his leader skill looks like a downgrade. However, the numbers are fairly telling. It's possible to activate all 6 colors on about 52% of all random boards - slightly less than normal Ra. However, it's possible to match any 5 colors (including Hearts) on about 95% of random boards. That's amazing reliability in a leader mostly known for luck. What's more, an "any 5" match is much, much easier than specific 5 - think of the difficulty difference between Kirin and Horus.

Constructing a team for L/L Ra is very different from constructing a team for 5-Color Ra. For one thing, heartbreakers - a standby for other Ra's - are a terrible choice, here. Super Ra needs hearts for those massive spikes.

Instead, you want to focus your subs on monsters which give you the best chance to survive until you can get the right board for x49 bursts. Your best options are defense, delay, and high-skill gravity. A max-skill No Crimson Lotus Mistress, Echidna is critical. Any subs with strong damage resistance Actives, like No Warded Storm God, Susano no Mikoto or even No Wood Mech Warrior, Asgard, are likewise very valuable. Gravity (I prefer No Awoken Hera-Is for the color coverage) can help at the end when a few rounds of x16 wouldn't otherwise cut it. However, make sure Gravity is max-skilled; stalling for even 15 rounds can be difficult with a burst damage team.

Another notable candidate for sub is No Mastering; Board reshuffling is the only orb change open to you, and it can be a lifesaver. (His high HP are a nice perk, too.) However, because he's Red, it's difficult to fit him on a team with Echidna. If forced to pick only one of the two, pick Echidna unless the dungeon's boss is resistant to status effects.

From there, focus on useful or interesting Actives and Awoken Skills. No Feline Deity of Harmony, Bastet, on dungeons like Twinlits and Trifruits, can make some levels very easy. A fully-awoken No Nocturne Chanter, Tsukuyomi along with two fully-awoken L/L Ra Leaders will give you an amazing +2 seconds of move time - more than enough to enable difficult 6-color combos. (And her Change the World is useful for obvious reasons.) And if you don't have enough of these, just use your monsters with the best stats.

For New Players

You need No Angelits for him. You don't have No Angelits yet. When you get No Angelits, he's a great choice!

Background

Ra was the Sun God of the ancient Egyptians. Pharaohs were considered to be incarnations of Ra, which may be why his representation in this game is made up of so many royal sarcophagus lids. Wikipedia
